She is Everywhere

Here is just some stuff that has been going on in the life of our sweet girl lately.

Selah got a big girl car seat with her birthday money. She is also facing forward and loves it! I love the ability of actually getting to see her and I'm so glad she can now get some air conditioning. Our hot Texas summer has been brutal.

She also loves to wear shoes.
It is strange because I never put shoes on her before, then all of a sudden at a year she decided she needed to start wearing them. If she sees a pair she will bring them to me and point to her toes.

Some shots from her Grandpa Don's last visit to see us.

She is walking around everything now. She walks along the whole kitchen until she gets to me doing the dishes and then holds on to my legs. She does more and more everyday. Lately, she just started practicing standing by herself, it is so amazing!

Here is one of Selah's favorite faces to make. It is so funny every time she does it. She will sniff in and out as loud as she can while her face is scrunched up like this. She loves that we laugh at it, it makes her just do it more and more.

She is a year now!

Selah turned one. So much happened in her life in such a short time. It was like she found out about this big birthday that she wanted to do some catching up. It started with the appearance of her first tooth last Saturday, June 5. Then on Monday she started crawling!! She is now a mobile baby. It has been so fun watching it happen!! She would forget for a few days that she learned how to crawl each morning after that, but by the afternoon she would figure it out again. She had also already been standing up against things, but she stated walking around stuff. She has gotten very daring and now walks around the couch and from the couch to the coffee table to the love seat. A day after the crawling I went to check on her when she was trying to fall asleep for a nap and it was so strange...her mobile had been disassembled and thrown behind her crib. I thought that was crazy and didn't know how she would have been able to reach it, but I guessed she just sat up and reached. Well I went in again about 10 minutes later and she was standing in her crib!! She still can't even pick herself up in the living room, but it now looks like she can do it in her crib. So just before her big day she has covered sooooo many skills! It is wild seeing her moving around the house where for so long she didn't.

She is still quite the sweetheart and her favorite thing to do is to see her Daddy. She loves to wave to him and pretty much everyone. She is a wonderful waver! We have taught her to blow kisses too and although she doesn't have the blowing part down yet, it is extremely cute. She is very much into hugging her dolls and stuffed animals and making the sweetest sigh each time. She signs "more" and "milk" now. I am weening her and once we learned that she likes to drink from a real person straw, it started to go much better. I am down to only one feeding now. She also has decided that she is done with baby food and wants only food she can pick up. It is so much harder feeding her now! Her favorite food is defiantly macaroni and cheese. I don't know how she mushes that stuff up with only those gums....it is something.

She had a party on Saturday the 12th and it was a blast. Most of our families got to be there and lots of her friends. We went swimming in our old swamp now that it is clean like a real pool and grilled out. She handled her cake just like I thought she would. At first she wasn't much into it because she didn't really know it was edible...but all it took was one taste of the icing. I made her cupcakes with sunflowers decorating the tops. She ate all the icing and then dug into the cake. She didn't mind at all that everyone was around her watching her. Right after she finished it she jacked her cousin Anni's little cupcake and shoved that one in her mouth. Overall she loves sweets I think.

It was wonderful getting to spend lots of time with family this past week. Keith's Mom came a few days before her party and my sister and her kids stayed a few days after. Selah had a great time! She also went to her one year appointment were she had to get 4 shots which wasn't fun. She weighs 20.5 pounds and is 29 inches long.

Our 11 Month Old

Sweet Selah you are growing so fast. It is hard to believe that in another month you will be a year. I love you so so much. You do the cutest stuff now. You love to wave and will sometimes whisper hi or bye bye. Giving high fives is your favorite, they always make you laugh, a cute high pitch giggle. You will give me a kiss if I ask for it now and although they are normally very wet, I don't get tired of them.

In San Antonio last week you got on all fours for the first time. I teared up. You keep doing it, although it has not caused you to crawl yet, instead you use it to sit down. You are so strong and can balance well when you stand up. Your favorite toy now it your mailbox, which you open and close so many times in a row. You are still such a Daddies girl. You brighten up the most when you see your Daddy.

After California you got a cold sore which turned into impetigo, this horrible bacterial skin infection. It is taking forever to heal. You were such a trooper for it all. A few days ago you had your first fever during the night. It was awful to hear you moaning. I took you to the doctor the next day and you had an ear infection.

Here are some pictures of you at 10 1/2 months old, you have chocolate on your dress from some ice cream we shared for lunch:

Selah's cute wave.

Sporting your new hair style.

Selah with her Grammy. They got to spend most of the day last Friday together while my Mom babysat for us so that we could go to a wedding. It was the longest I have been away from my daughter. They got along great!

Cali Trip

We took a trip to California in March. We finally got the chance to visit Keith's brother Brent and his wife who now live in Beverly Hills. The have a sweet set up with a cute house in a beautiful area of town and the best weather.

This was Selah's first big trip. She rode on a plane and did amazing by sleeping in my lap the whole time. All the new sights, and new people were so fun for her and she did so good. It was like getting to meet a whole new side of her. She of course didn't love all the hours in the car though, but again did better then I expected for sure. We covered so much California territory...LA to Mammoth then back to LA then a full day north to Monterey, then on to San Leandro and the San Francisco.

It was wonderful to get to visit family and good friends that we haven't seen in a long time. We had such a good time and loved the variety of weather. Keith got a couple days of snowboarding in and I even got to ski a couple runs. California is such a cool state, because you can be enjoying the sunshine in LA by the beach and a few hours away have a ton of snow to play in.

Here are some pictures of our travels:

Beverly Hills

Keith and Selah and his brother Brent

Santa Monica Pier

Brent and Lori Beth at Muscle Beach

Crazy, but this is the only picture I took while we were in Mammoth. There was so much snow on the ground, but it wasn't to cold.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then we drove to Monterey to visit our friends Ben and Joy.

The drive took us all day, a long car day. It was a very beautiful drive though. In this picture we were wondering if we were going to go over this bridge...though as we got closer we saw that it wasn't purple water, it was wildflowers!

Highway 58 was so gorgeous, full of rolling mountains and all sorts of flowers of every color.

Joy took us hiking at Point Lobos in Carmel. It was so beautiful.

Selah loved riding on Daddies back.

Sweet Elijah! So full of life.

It was good to be with friends that have been so missed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then on to San Francisco
My only picture of Ben. Look at the long hair, I am still not use to it. It was really great to see him. We met him for lunch in at this rad place where they put your fries in the sandwich! genius.
Selah did such a good job taking both naps in her stroller as walked the streets.

We got to stay with Keith's friend Christian, and his sweet wife Caitlin.

Thank you to everyone we stayed with! You were so sweet to give us a place to sleep and feed us such fancy dinners. What wonderful friends!! We had such a good time.
